iLux is a hand held device used by the doctor in office to simultaneously heat up and gently compress the oil glands on the eyelids. iLux uses LED light to heat the oil glands on the eyelids to the exact temperature (40-42 degrees celsius) needed to liquify and secrete oil. It holds that temperature for the duration of the treatment and automatically shuts off before exceeding that temperature. Every patient is treated with a sterile tip that is only used on their eyes and all 4 eyelids can be treated in about 10 minutes. The iLux procedure is safe, well tolerated, and pain-free.
